FDR, posted by Steven D at Kos. I had heard a bit about a plot that some "sons of industry" had planned in the early 30's, but this diary spells it out. If you read it and aren't appalled (and, at the least, concerned about the machinations going on behind the scenes today), then you didn't read it carefully enough. Lots of links to follow through on the whole fucking sordid tale. On a happy note: one brave man, Marine General Smedley Butler, stopped the plot in its tracks. Why wasn't I taught about this American hero in history class?
