Reid and Pelosi weigh in
on the Foley matter and, just as importantly, the cover up by the republican leadership in the house. Namely, Reid has demanded that the Attorney General investigate the Foley matter. And Pelosi has written Doc Hastings, House Ethics Chairman (cough), demanding "that the Ethics Committee act as directed [per her resolution calling for an investigation that passed 410 to 0] and immediately form the investigative Subcommittee and begin work on the preliminary report in 10 days. Central to the investigation is immediately questioning, under oath, the House Republican Leadership." She gets a point for adding "under oath" in her letter. Now we have to see what happens. Thing is, the foxes are guarding the hen house, but November isn't that far away and this story has legs.

Two other bits from Crooks & Liars:
1) Video of the clerk reading Pelosi's resolution calling for an ethics investigation into Foley where the Republicans boo Pelosi when she asks for a recorded vote. That takes guts. Especially given the next item. Note: The video is only available in WMP format, so I couldn't view it.
2) GOP Staff Warned Pages About Foley in 2001. Crooks & Liars links an ABC report where a former page said that "[a] Republican staff member warned Congressional pages five years ago to watch out for Congressman Mark Foley." Five fucking years. A commenter on one of the diaries at Kos came up with the best frame ever: How can we trust republicans to keep us secure when they can't even protect House pages? How indeed.
I think you can download Realplayer and it will let you run Windows Media clips.
