Toys "R" Us recalls China-made wooden art sets. Why? Lead paint and lead in the watercolor paint, of course. I generally buy my cousin's girls craft or art sets. She likes those kind of toys and the girls really like them too. But this year? I won't buy anything made in China, naturally, but what will be left? I think Legos might pass muster, but who knows? Looks like I'm going to have to wrap up some grass-fed beef jerky for the kids. Sure, they'll hate it, but I'm pretty sure it's free of lead. And melamine. And anti-freeze.
Um, Mad Cow much?

JDM: That's why I said grass-fed, because grass-fed cows aren't fed ground up pieces of other cows. That's how they think mad cow started, by feeding cows, which are herbivores, ground up bits of sheep, pigs and other cows. GMB

Personally, I prefer to cut out the Middle Man, and simply give my daughter pieces of lead to suck on like hard candy.
Why pay extra, when you can go down to the smelter and pick up scraps for free?
And those old thermomators with the Mercury, great stocking stuffers.
I swear some days I wonder if I stepped into a time warp, and went backwards about 100 years.
Of course, lead poisoning would explain a lot of the behavior we see in this country.
I bet there's a link between high lead count and support for Bush.

Fairlane: I hear ya. I can't understand how anyone believes or respects or likes W. Of course, I'm in godless, pinko, queer NYC, but still. Thanks for explaining things. GMB
