Edwards gives long-awaited endorsement

to Obama. Why now? The AP reports: A person close to Edwards, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he wanted to get involved now to begin unifying the party. Obama also signed on to Edwards' anti-poverty initiative, which he launched Tuesday with the goal of reducing poverty in the United States by half within 10 years.

Personally, although Edwards said some nice stuff about Hill, my gut tells me that he was unhappy with the not so subtle race baiting that has been embraced by Team Hill. That and Edwards' had said he wouldn't endorse until a candidate had been picked. Well, in an appearance with Obama in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Edwards said ""brothers and sisters, we must come together as Democrats" to defeat McCain. "We are here tonight because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I." So I guess the nomination process can be over before the "lady in the pantsuit" says so.

I watched the build up and the announcement and now I'm watching the dissection. All I can say is thank goodness this part is done.

DCup: I think Edwards came in to announce the obvious: the race is over, time to unify the party and defeat McCain. Sadly, I don't think Hill heard a word. We shall see. GMB

Edwards was my first choice for POTUS. Now I'd like to see him as AG.It would send a chill through the corrupt corporate oligarchy that now dominates the landscape.

Morse: If Edwards is picked as AG, I'm investing in the company that makes Depends. Because there is going to be a run on adult diapers. GMB

Oh my, Edwards as AG--invest in paper too, as the subpoenas would be flyin'.

Do you think Edwards has a shot as Obama's VP?

PiNY, I know you're probably not into memes, but I would love to see your take on Splotchy's latest story virus--if you so choose. Please come by my bloggy when you have a minute.

dguzman: I think Edwards would make a good VP, but as AG he could really right the shaky ship o' state. And I'll check out Splotchy's meme. GMB
