I'm cool with this:
The Guardian reports that Hillary Clinton is going to accept Obama's offer of secretary of state job. But gmb, you may be thinking, you are hardly a Hill fan, why do you like this? It's simple. If Hill become Secretary of State, then she will have to leave her senate seat and maybe, just maybe, a real New Yorker, one who is truly progressive, could fill that slot. I'm not sure if the governor would appoint someone to fill the vacancy, but if that were the case then I hope that Governor Paterson, who I respect, would go with a bold choice instead of some long-serving political hack. We shall see. Oh, and we have to get rid of Schumer next. He's up in 2010, so we had better start looking.
I think it's OK. Lotsa foreign element people like her and if she fucks up, Obama can fire her. As you say, it gets a carpetbagger the fuck out of one of NY's Senate seats. Lots better move than Obama saying he thinks Shitbird Joe should keep his chair.

I'm really curious to see what happens with this potential appointment. I know the punditocracy is having a ball with the speculation and yet another opportunity to discuss BILL.
It sounds like an opportunity for NY to have some change, too.

Does that mean no more Condoleezza. She's pretty hard core about taking shit in public. Hillary can take shit but I think Condoleezza has her beat.
I would prefer the looks and entertainment of Palin personally.

I think she'd be a good secretary of state. She has the requisite experience with foreign governments and to your point, if there are problems he can always fire her.

It's interesting. Another twofer? How the hell will they vet Bubba?

JDM: And she will have lots of high profile meetings with big dinners and honor guards, so her base can get wet every time she's treated like a princess. It's a win-win. As for Obama, I've heard he wants Lieberman to stay in the caucus, but hasn't said anything about his chairmanships. If the dems allow him to do it they might as well get t-shirts for everyone (except Leahy and Sanders, well, he's a socialist, god bless him) that says "Kick me, I won't kick back." God they make me sick.
DCup: I hope so. It's smart, when you think about it. The media gets the red meat of getting to trail the Clintons and Obama gets some breathing room. Brilliant, really.
Joseph: Condi takes shit because she'll do anything to keep a position for which she is not qualified. No doubt she's thinking about how she can monetize her fabulous white house career. I'm thinking lots of $$$ as a director on the boards of directors for the oil companies and military industrial complex players. Whatever. Make. Her. Leave.
Mauigirl: After Condi, she's golden. She knows the players and I bet she will get someone in who can shore up the State Department, so it's fine. Getting her out of the NY senate seat...well that's gravy. Mmmmmm, gravy. GMB

Hey, how about Paterson appoints Eliot Spitzer. He's free.

bowtiejack: Oi. You know how I feel about Spitzer (he worried me for a while...way before his hooker problem was revealed). I just want someone who isn't a complete political whore. Yeah, I know. GMB

I agree with you on the Hillary thing, as I am equally glad to get Rahm E out of the house. Hey! How about Tom Duane as the next US Senator from NY! I LOVE him!! Also, I know you have problems with Anthony Weiner, but I'd be fine with him in the Senate.
