Meanwhile, many people are high fiving each other over Specter's switch, but put me in the "what the fuck?" camp. Why? Read this: PA Gov. Rendell Promised Specter He’d Be “Unopposed” In Dem Primary. According to Greg Sargent, writing at The Plum Line: In a way, labor may be left kind of high and dry in this deal: If Specter had stayed a Republican and lost a GOP primary, the victor, right-wing Pat Toomey, would likely have been defeated by the eventual Dem candidate — who likely would have been a real Democrat, friend of labor, and EFCA backer. So labor could end up getting shafted here.
Remember that Rendell, with Chuck Schumer, squelched any attempt by real progressives to run for the PA senate seat eventually lost by Rick Santorum by throwing money and support behind that asshole Bob Casey, Jr. This just cements for me that the democratic leadership no more wants true progressives in office than the fucking republicans.
I agree, Specter is an old ass.

Sadly, Dr. Monkey, he'll fit right in with the complicit democrats. Christ, we need to move from more democrats to better democrats. Of course, my dream is that the republicans implode, the democrats take their place and then a true progressive party can start in this country. A girl can dream. GMB

Motherfucking Specter wants money and votes from the unions in exchange for changing his vote on EFCA and maybe universal health care,. The latter matters less because Obamco will fuck it up with or without him. The real evil is cutting out the progressives again. Hope the EFCA vote works out. With labor in, I don't think Specter is likely to lose to Toomey. Rendell is godawful - fucking phony republicrat douche nozzle. Worse, actually, recruiting a POS like Specter instead of running a decent candidate. Fuckwad pusball.

I'm so glad you're keeping track of this shit so I can come here for a fix. I'm so over it.

JDM: I agree with everything you've said. Sadly. Again, I think what the democratic leadership really fears is a true progressive movement. Bastards.
Lisa: I was over it a while ago. I'm not in it now, but I don't feel the need to ignore everything now. But just now. That could change. I look at our political "leaders" and see nothing but mediocrity (save Bernie Sanders and a handful of others). GMB

Joseph: Oh, I agree. Same old bullshit, just something for the media whores to get excited over, but the end result is not real change. Unless, that is, more defections follow. In that case, the democrats can take over the republicans mantle (as it existed many years ago), then there is room for a true progressive party. Yeah, I know....wishful thinking. GMB
