Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to resign in surprise move. People are speculating that Sarah is resigning to use the time to prepare for a presidential run. But why resign now when there are only 1 1/2 years left to "serve?" It's not like she's a policy wonk poring over every piece of legislation proposed in the state legislature. I smell a scandal. My friend John pointed out that we assume that we would know if Palin was in trouble because investigations of public officials are often leaked (thanks to Ken Starr's lack of respect for the justice system), but if the Department of Justice (or other agency) is run in a professional manner, we might not know about an indictments until it is announced. This surprise announcement doesn't make sense. Even for Sarah Palin. Just saying.
BradBlog is saying a federal corruption indictment is coming - the Wasilla sports complex and her remodeled home share a lot of supplies...

Mark Sanford is on his knees praising Jeebus for this one. And yes, I am the jeebus-y one in this crowd, so I know it is true! LOL. What horseshit from Sarah. The resignation will be soon... just chattin it up now you betcha. She sounded like she was on crack during her speech.

Tengrain: Brad is getting his info from Shannyn Moore, an Alaskan blogger and radio talker who is progressive. Moore was a hoot during the campaign.
DCap: Really. Sanford must feel blessed. Well, until his soon-to-be-ex wife's high priced attorneys ream his asshole good.
Fran: I agree, but his relief will be short lived. See comment above. And a lot of people thought she sounded like she was on something. If it's true about the indictment, I'm thinking Xanax. Because her life was supposed to be perfect, that's why. GMB

Even a college freshman studying Public Relations 101 would surmise that the hasty timing of her rambling resignation speech was suspicious.
For a publicity whore like Palin, trying to sneak in her announcement on the eve of a major holiday (when all the news people were off duty) is definitely suspicious.
She's definitely in a panic over something.

Karen: Either an indictment, another pregnant daughter, the truth is about to be revealed about her affair with Todd's former business partner/the truth about Trig's parentage, or something. She was reacting to something. GMB

I think DCap has it right, gmb, but it makes me wonder if the Palin story, along with Sanford and Ensign are efforts by the RNC to deflect attention for more pressing matters, like health care and CIA memo on torture. There is a measure of hypocrisy and stupidity in the PS&E stories, but this fruit hangs much too low to be merely serendipitous.

Spartacus: I read somewhere that Romney had people in Alaska looking for stuff. Just saying. That said, I forgot what a narcissistic grifter Palin was. I'm starting to think that she was bored with governorin' and wanted to go out and make the big bucks will the iron was hot. And she will. GMB
