Lou Dobbs to Quit CNN. Ok, the economy isn't to blame....he quit. Or did he? While Lou says he is leaving and considering "a number of options and directions," "Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN/U.S. said in a statement that 'Lou has now decided to carry the banner of advocacy journalism elsewhere.'” Hmmm, "advocacy journalism?" Sounds like CNN got tired of having to defend Lou's obvious anti-immigrant asshole opinions.
But this sentence is what makes me think Mr. Dobbs was shown the door: “All of us will miss his appetite for big ideas, the megawatt smile and larger than life presence he brought to our newsroom,” Mr. Klein said.
We will miss his appetite for big ideas and megawatt smile? Dude was fired. No worries, I'm sure he'll be picked up by FOX in a New York minute. After all, FOX seems drawn to CNN's sloppy seconds (see Glenn Beck).

May his Charlie Brown sized head explode all over the sidewalk on his way out. Biggot and a jackass. Wonder when he was brain damaged, he actually once was a good news man I think.

Reamus: Maybe he was good once, but he's a paranoid douchebag now. Make that an unemployed paranoid douchebag. GMB

Loud mouthed fucking Mr. Potato Head. Hope he doesn't wind up in KKKongress or the Senatorium.

GMB: He was probably one then too, but he was the first news anchor CNN ever had and kept his whacko "birther" opinions to himself (he believes it to be an area of "legitmate inquiry.") Jackass.

JDM: More likely FOX.
Reamus: I wonder if he was always so anti-immigrant/nuts or if he slowly lost his mind. GMB

GMB: Not all that clear. He says (for what that may be worth) that 9/11 had an " big effect" on him(so far as I know he never articulated what that effect was). He was a business reporter, and it was how he got into NAFTA issues which led to his militant stupidity on immigration and jobs "being sent overseas", yada, yada).
He may go to Fox Business, that nascient little pilot light, needs someone to get it viewers. I must say his explanation of why he was leaving was as incoherent as his views on most issues. NPR was trying to parse it this morning with little luck in my case. It and the explanation of it made no sense. Bottom line really is CNN had enough, his ratings sucked, they warned him, he said screw you, and they canned him.

Reamus: Apparently that no talent former comedian Dennis Miller also claimed to be affected by 9/11. Well I live about 1 1/4 miles away from where the Trade Towers stood. I now work one block away from the site. Lots of people did and have, and we didn't become close-minded, heartless anti-immigration assholes. I don't get it. Now I will admit that I think he did good work re: NAFTA and outsourcing. He was right on the money there. But his swing to the birther camp is nuts.
As for why he is gone. I think he was fired. The reason? Well, the "I was attacked b/c someone shot my house" bullshit turned out to be a stray bullet from a hunter. That and the protests, his running with patently crazy stories (Mexicans brought 7,000 cases of leprosy into the country, etc.) and his low numbers did it. Maybe CNN sees that MSNBC has picked up viewership with Olbermann and Maddow. Whatever it is, I'm glad he's gone. I hope someone sane and less xenophobic picks up the anti-NAFTA oursourcing meme, though. GMB

Would be nice if someone could do sane stuff on NAFTA again(since everyone seems to have forgotten about it), but he did go around the bend. The "why" is something only he would know. Maybe he and Dennis THE Doofess can form a support group...9/11 my ass.

Reamus: I agree with everything you said. 9/11 is an excuse. GMB
