CREW ASKS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO WHY WALL STREET IS GETTING H1N1 VACCINE AHEAD OF THOSE WHO MOST NEED IT. Yeah, you read that right. CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) reports: Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) asked Health and Human Service (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to investigate why the Center for Disease Control (CDC) approved the distribution of the H1NI vaccine to Wall Street firms at a time when the vaccine is unavailable to most Americans.
Recent news reports indicate 13 companies, including Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase and Time Warner, have been cleared to receive the vaccine.
* * *
Melanie Sloan, executive director of CREW said today, “Although CREW has been unable to uncover the demographic makeup of Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and JP Morgan Chase, it seems safe to assume the vast majority of their employees are not pregnant women, infants and children, young adults up to 24 years old, and healthcare workers.”
There's more. Click the link and read the whole fucking thing. To say that I am appalled would be a gross understatement. If anyone out there thinks that the real power that runs this country isn't located on Wall Street, this story should straighten them out. I guess the bankers and the politicians who love them assume people aren't that pissed because there are no guillotines in public squares, but christ...who thought this was a good idea? As Sloan states: “First, the bailout, then the bonuses, now the vaccine. When will Washington start putting the needs of Main Street above those of Wall Street?”
Sadly, I think we all know that the answer is "never."
Please let them have mine because only they can afford the doctor for the side effects. Really though - doesn't that make you want one when you think you can't have one ?
There's so many of these undocumented -

Tommy: What happened to that woman is horrible. Rare...but horrible. Thing is, overall my thought is that for those at risk, it is probably worth it to get the shot. The number of pregnant women who have died of swine flu is way out of whack compared to the general population (both here and abroad). And kids, particularly young kids, are dying in higher numbers than is usual with regular flu. Why the CDC agreed to give doses to Wall Street before the vulnerable group gets it is a fucking outrage. GMB

Continue reading about Desiree Jenkins. It's not entirely clear that her case is a side effect of the vaccine.
As for the Wall St. folks, they're pigs so the shot might be appropriate, but fuck 'em anyway.

Sorghum: Apparently some people are saying that the NY Health department is responsible. Gave some vaccine to a bunch of corps to give to people at risk. Does goldman (who apparently asked for 5,200 doses) have 200 people who are at risk? Maybe. All I know is my office is in NYC, and I haven't heard about H1N1 vaccine being offered, and I know of at least one very visibly pregnant woman who works in my office. Just saying. GMB

I don't think this is entirely a one class society, ya know?

Really, JDM? The thing that is really appalling is how mediocre these people are at heart. Better tyrants, please. GMB

What the fuck?
Jesus fucking christ.
These overpaid morons, rewarding each other with our money, and now this.

This is typical Bloomberg corruption. Even worse, the corporate media delayed breaking the story until after the mayoral election.

dave: All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others. If Orwell were to come back and see the U.S. now, he would throw up in his own mouth.
libhomo: Now remember, Wall Street adds so much value to NYC. Think about what would happen to the pole dancers and strippers if Wall Street bankers got sick with the flu! You have to stop being so selfish. [Note: I work in the financial district and pass a stripper club--in fucking Tribeca--to get to my subway stop.] GMB

let them eat H1N1 vaccine
Posted by: distributorcap | November 09, 2009 at 09:20 PM
DCap: Exactly. Goldman better be able to prove that they have 200 in the risk groups. How many kids do you think they employee? GMB
