Despite huffing and puffing by Senate republicans who are urging the Obama administration to raise threat level, it looks like the administration isn't going to do it. Specifically: Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a Senate panel that the administration had not raised the alert because there was no credible information pointing to a specific threat.
Go figure. I guess Obama knows he's golden now and he doesn't have to use the "be afraid" card. That's refreshing. Now when will he stop the TSA assholes from feeling up Americans guilty of wanting to travel by plane?
Ownership of TV Sets Falls in U.S.. Why is this a good thing? Because even if people are opting to get their broadcast entertainment on the internet, it means that they aren't as married to the tube and that means the traditional media providers have lost a bit of their power and allure. It used to cost a fortune to get some presence on the tv. Not so much on the internet. Still not cheap, but not prohibitive. Still, most folks own a tv set (I don't--I got rid of cable and tv to protest the bullshit that posed as news), but it's exciting to see that that could be changing.
Islamic scholars criticize bin Laden's sea burial. So I guess they were fine with the Navy Seal team going into Osama's bat cave and offing him then? Because one would think that might be something that takes precedence over the way in which the body was disposed. That said, I wonder how many NATO (read: American) troops in Afghanistan are going to have to die because of this? One would hope that Obama, having achieved W's pretend aim for bombing Afghanistan back to the second century (because they were already at the third century, no?), announces that the troops are leaving Afghanistan tomorrow. But we know that isn't happening. There's a world of natural gas all around that part of the world, no?
