Poll: More agree than disagree with Occupy Wall Street goals. Why would Obama try now? Because of this:
Young Americans Rapidly Sour on Obama. Writes Firedoglake: Not only did the enthusiasm of young people in 2008 provide Obama with a lot of votes from people who rarely go to the polls, but enthusiastic young people also made up a significant amount of the free volunteer labor behind the large ground game.
You see, unless I'm mistaken, I think a lot of the younger protesters in Zucotti Park and elsewhere probably spent some time knocking on doors for Obama in 2008. But now? They know the score. Apparently Obama's team is figuring that out too, hence his recent scolding of the republicans (better than his usual tongue bath) and the tiny bone he is trying to throw to students. It's too little, too late, of course. Still, unless we find out he has a girlfriend on the side, or something else the media might give a shit about, Obama gets his second term. But only because the republicans are evil and insane. That's the only fucking reason.
Thanks to Jim for the second link.
Fuck O'Blowme. He's another variant on Kissinger: if a turd ould talk, it would sound either like Kissinger or O'Blowme.

JDM: I agree. Still, if he squeaks by and gets his second term, he had better get used to heckling and protesters from the left shouting shame at him. He will not like it. Like Clinton, he wants everyone to think he's swell. I hope he loses, so the republican can hold the bag for the next four years, because they ain't going to be pretty. GMB

You know, your comment about letting a repug win so he (she?) can see what it's like to ride this shitstorm actually intrigues me. I was feeling like I couldn't just stay home next November, but then again I can't stomach voting for Obama. If I stay home and a repug wins, how much worse can it get? (Dare I ask?)

dguzman: Go and vote, just vote for a third party candidate you actually respect or write in a name. In 2010, I vote for my then congressman (Nadler) and for every other position, I wrote in Harvey Milk's name. At least I got to vote for someone I respected. Besides, if you stay home "they" may write you off of lazy or unengaged. Show them that you are paying attention but are disgusted--show up, vote for who you want, let them see that you made the effort and could have voted for them if they tried. GMB
