Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks 'knew about phone hacking at NoW'. Coulson won't last a day in prison, but Rebekah will probably be the belle of the ball, so it's all good. And this is the minor stuff. Sorry, I've been busy, but if you go to The Guardian site (click the link and you see lnks on the right for additional stories), you'll see that the Levenson inquiry into the phone-hacking scandal has revealed that the police were actively closing down the investigation--arrests are bound to happen given the stature of some of the people hacked. It's unraveling slowly, but once the law suits number in the high hundreds or thousands, well, things can go boom quickly. Look at News of the World. One day it had the highest subscription numbers in all of the UK, the next day it was closed and all of the worker bees were kicked to the curb.
I just got back from my Thanksgiving break yesterday. Tonight I went to visit friends who just had a baby...to adore him. And he is adorable. A handsome and calm baby. Not a crier, very easy going--his parents lucked out. His nickname is Enzo (like me, mom and dad are both half Sicilian--they both are half-Irish, I'm half English/Scottish and, I'm learning, Irish). Anyhoo, Enzo is short for Vincenzo, which was my grandfather's name. Did I mention that they got married in Cefalu, the town where my grandparents were born and raised? They are also my former neighbors at Chez Horrible, and I joined them in suing my bastard landlord. Hey, you don't sue your (former) bastard landlord with just anyone. Mom, Dad, grandmom (her mother), and baby are doing well (although the adults could use a bit more sleep).
So tomorrow it's back to the outrages and the occasional signs of decency and brilliance.
I did not do Black Friday, although I did pick up a Nook at a not very crowded Barnes & Noble for my youngest niece. Visited some friends. Ate a fabulous turkey--it was a kosher turkey and one of the best I've ever had. And now I sit here and contemplate my waist. Oi.
Hope you had a fabulous holiday. Tomorrow....back to the mines.
I'm going to go to S. Jersey after work tomorrow, so that I can get upcoming xmas crap done. Mostly some buying--in cash, so the credit cards companies won't make a fucking penny off of my purchases--and wrapping. And relaxing. There's that.
So, posting will be light, etc.
And this Thanksgiving, I will give thanks for the principled and brilliant students at UC Davis. If they represent our leaders of tomorrow, we are in good hands. Have a lovely holiday.
Pregnant teen, elderly woman among those pepper sprayed by Seattle thug cops. And the photo of the 84-year old, 4 foot, 10 inch victim of police aggression has "appeared on news websites around the world." Good. America can't hide the ugly anymore, and tourists should know that it's not safe to visit until and unless the thug cops are controlled. Oh, and here's a photo of the elderly victim of uncontrolled police aggression:
She does look threatening. Cops had no choice. Pigs.
Don't link to a Bloomberg article ever. Don't mention the site. Never click a link to an article at that vile man's site. Remember: Every time you click a link to a Bloomber article that vulgar little man makes a penny.
