Extreme Sustainability in London. The link takes you to a story about an East London furniture store that emphasizes sustainability. What it really emphasizes is overpriced artisanal shit ala Portland and Brooklyn with an English spin. And when you are done, this is what you get--"a sustainable chair":
As one commenter noted, it looks like it wouldn't support a child. Click the link if you wish to be diverted and appalled.
Fucking grifters.

JDM: If they grift from the super rich, I'm ok with that. Karl Rove taking a $25 million from the Koch brothers doesn't bother me. But this shit. If it was making fun of the artisanal everything movement, that's one thing, but I don't think so. I think they may be serious. Smells like something a trust fund baby might do. GMB

For fuck's sake. Who knew that I'd one day be hip. I'm all about sustainability which is also known as hell no, I'm not buying another stick of furniture until the kids and cats are gone.
There will never be a lack of ways to part people with their money, will there?

I saw this on Remodelista earlier this week, which resulted in my clicking the Unsubscribe link.

Lisa: If I see the word artisanal one more fucking time, I will explode. I like the idea that younger people want to do real work involving real things, but this hipster foodie and sustainable stuff has taken on a level of ridiculousness that could dangerously derail an otherwise sensible movement. And I'm tired of seeing these pale, unfit, young bearded hipsters. Christ, I wish they would put down their artisanal sandwich and fucking shave already.
Ten: Remodelista was interesting for a day, then it went to parody (unintended), and, finally, tragedy. I go there to see what bullshit they are peddling du jour. But yeah, I see myself removing them from the bookmark list really soon. They are shameless in their promotion. Really, the writing reads like PR copy. Whores. GMB
