And why are we there again? I recall hearing about a pipeline that was supposed to go from Whereverthefuckistan through Lawlessratholeistan and deliver some fossil fuel to an awaiting tanker, but surely our media would tell us whether "Operation Destroy the Earth so a Handful of Fuckers Can Own Everything for Five Minutes" was on track. Ironic:

David Petraeus resigns from his position as head of CIA, citing "extremely poor judgment" over extramarital affair. He was promoted for exercising poor judgment with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan, but I guess no one was making any money from Patraeus playing hide the salami with some underling. Or maybe someone wanted him out and finally got their way? I mean the timing is interesting.

The London Olympics are going to be, um, interesting.

First, the private company engaged to provide security--because corporations are better at providing services than government--made a boo-boo and may be short, I dunno, about four or five thousand or more security personnel. So the government is sending in 3,500 more soldiers to march around town. That should make the event really festive. But then there's this: Home Office staff vote to strike over jobs and pay. Home Office includes immigration and Border Agency staff. Oh dear. David Cameron is the Brits' slightly smarter version of W. Sad to think he may be replaced with Ed Miliband, Labour's low rent version of Obama. Man, faded empires suck.

I used to think that the UK rightwing was much more sophisticated than the republican mooks here. But then I see this:

What makes this particularly boneheaded is the the UK, with the exception of Scotland, does not have a ready supply of fossil fuels, and Scotland's contribution in the North Sea has had a lot of oil already tapped out.
