Lou Dobbs mulls run for White House, Senate. Then again, Sarah Palin thinks she has a shot, so maybe the joke's on us? Honestly, this country is fucked up. The republicans are just corrupt, and the democrats are mostly complicit (with elements of corruption and the occasional honest man/woman). We need a new WPA, real jobs that stay here and vigorous regulation of the financial industry, our food system, etc. That said, and despite 8 years of W, I think Americans are tired of stupid and mean-spirited. The majority, I mean. I hope that we made it through a mini-dark ages and can move on. But if either Dobbs or Palin show some real momentum....time to consider other options. Have I mentioned that my father was Canadian? Yeah, those kind of options.

Oh, you knew this was coming:

Prejean Sex Tape Triggers Settlement. Yes, America's favorite christian beauty queen gay basher had to settle her case against Miss California USA pagent officials for a mere song once the pagent officials' lawyer showed her an "extremely graphic" video he or she managed to procure. According to TMZ, they obtained the video months ago but decided not to post it because "it was so racy." How racy? Well, Prejean wanted $1 million in settlement but settled for payment of her lawyer and publicist fees. And, of course, there is this tantalizing statement by TMZ: Let's just say, Carrie has a promising solo career.

Oh, my. And yes, this atheist is praying that the video manages to find it's way on the internets. Because I like seeing holier than thou types get their comeuppance, that's why.

Now for those of you who are concerned about Carrie's inability to collect on the $1 million she had demanded from pagent officials, no worries. It appears that she has other options: Vivid Offers Miss California Carrie Prejean $1-Million to Star in an Adult Movie. Sure, the offer was made back in May, but after TMZ's post, I'm guessing they may up the offer. After all, apparently she's a professional, not a rank amateur.

Looks like things are looking up for Bernie Kerik:

Kerik Moved Out of Jail’s Mental Health Unit. The good news? Psychiatric officials determined that Kerik is "psychologically stable." The bad news? Looks like he is going to me moved into the general population. Not really. No doubt he will be put into a special "thou shalt not be shanked" wing of the jail. Because there really are two justice systems: those of us, those for them. And, sadly, Kerik counts as a them.
