Associated Press says U.S. government seized journalists' phone records. Of course this happened. Probably trying to find out who all WH leakers are so they can start prosecuting them and have a whole ward of Bradley Mannings. I am so so glad I did not vote for Obama for president. Holder was his pick for Attorney General. Period. I only hope that some journalists finally understand what this government is willing to do to keep all leaks from happening and start reporting the shit out of what is going on. With a handful of exceptions, DC is a fucking cesspit that needs a Herculean cleaning.
Don't know what I will get, but I know what service provider I WON'T be using: SPRINT. I have Sprint with an "older plan," which apparently ended but no one told me. I almost never use the phone, but I had to last month because of a family emergency (my nephew broke his leg in three places and had to have surgery). The one time I really needed it, after being a subscriber for 14 years, and for reasons no one can explain, I was charged international roaming charges, and a 27 minute call from Brooklyn to New Jersey cost $99. And the reps keep acting like it's my fault because of the towers in my neighborhood and because I am on an older, discontinued plan. No one told me that my old plan doesn't exist any more of whatever. Not even this past weekend, when I went to the Sprint store to see about upgrading to a smart phone and the clerk asked for my cell phone number to check out my plan. No, not even then.
Ok, Sprint is out, which means Virgin and Credo too. Great. So what's left that isn't the sociopathic assholes at AT&T (they allowed the government to put equipment in a "special room" to datamine all our communication) or the assholes at Verizon?
And I don't care if this is a fucking trial balloon. No democrat should ever allow cuts to social security or medicare to be offered to make a deal. No doubt this is part of Obama's 11th-dimensional chess and we are too stupid to see how brilliant this plan is--that is what his fanbots are saying, I'm guessing. Here's what I think it comes down to: Obama is in the big leagues. After his second term, he will make millions giving speeches and doing "good works"--and I mean real millions, like more than $100 million, and in short order. He will be going to resorts we don't even know exist. Rubbing shoulders with the rich criminal families of Europe, Asia, North and South America, and African despots. He and his wife and kids will never wont for a thing. So why should he care if his social security check is a little smaller? And yes, I don't think he or his circle understand just how important this is to the average joe. Sadly, I don't think they give a shit either. They are taken care of.
Monster in the white house wants you to live like a pauper in your old age. And why not? He'll never have to rely on social security, and neither will his kids. Oh, and according to the comments, that old multi-millionairess Nancy Pelosi is cool with it. And why not, she'll never have to rely on social security, etc. You know what? Next time I may not even vote. Someone tell me why I should bother. No, really.
How the Hype Became Bigger Than the Presidential Election:
Blame the media for making whole generations hate The Process. And I do. Blame the media, that is. In fact, I don't have a tv because I got tired of screaming at the talking heads on tv--that asshole Chris Matthews in particular. Does anyone else remember when Chris Matthews said that Al Gore should concede "for the good of the nation?" Because I hear people mention that he was against the Iraq war, and they note other sensible (or at least not stupid) things he has said as if he is not a complete media whore. But he is. And from what I've read--because I really don't have a tv and rarely watch broadcast images on my computer--Tweety isn't as bad as some of the newer, even more shameless whores spewing on tv. This election only is a horse race because the media won't make money if everyone accepted that Barack Obama, Wall Street enabler, is going to cream Mitt Romney, Wall Street player and known cultist. So starve the beast and turn off the tv. Better yet, cancel cable and kill the beast. Since I got rid of the my tv back in February 2004, I figure that Time Warner lost about $7,200 of my after tax dollars. Just saying.
Dying Woman Humiliated at Sea-Tac Airport by TSA Security Search. The young woman was taking a "end of life" trip to Hawaii when these monsters "lifted bandages from recent surgeries, lifted her shirt to check feeding tubes and broke open an IV bag of saline solution, all in full view of other passengers." The poor young woman asked for a private search, but the TSA monsters denied her request saying, "the location is fine."
Fire them all. Yes, I mean it. I have no compassion for someone who thinks it is fine to collect a check for violating the 4th amendment rights of their fellow citizens. So fire them all, and hire some human beings to replace them. And while we are at it, replace the invasive and unconstitutional pat downs and "I can see you naked cancer machines" with effective prescreening of passengers (follow El Al guidelines) and xray all the luggage. If a well-trained TSA agent has a reasonable suspicion about a passenger, have the agent take the passenger to a more private space near the security station for a respectful pat down and/or questioning. I know that there's not as much money in my suggestions, but the facade is falling apart and I'm offering my idea of what can replace this filthy program designed to teach the masses that they are not entitled to dignity and respect. Oh, and this goddamn disgraceful program, while set up by that asshole W, came into being on Obama's watch. One of many reasons why I will not vote for him.
Greece set for anti-austerity general strike. Or accept being serfs, that is. Obama's second term might be a bit more contentious than the first, especially since he's being handed this term thanks to clueless Mitt Romney and the republicans who hate him.
