I can't believe it's not a democracy!

Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

The Chinese government borrow a page from the GOP playbook:

China blames foreign media for food health scares. Because the food scare has nothing to do with Chinese manufacturers' adding melamine to wheat, corn and rice gluten, or putting anti-freeze in toothpaste. Nope, it's the fucking media. The same media that never reports the good news from Iraq. Bastards.

If you are going to go to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic games,

you may want to pack a lunch: Beijing steamed buns include cardboard. The AP reports: Chopped cardboard, softened with an industrial chemical and flavored with fatty pork and powdered seasoning, is a main ingredient in batches of steamed buns sold in one Beijing neighborhood, state television said.

The report, aired late Wednesday on China Central Television, highlights the country's problems with food safety despite government efforts to improve the situation.

* * *

The hidden camera follows the man, whose face is not shown, into a ramshackle building where steamers are filled with the fluffy white buns, traditionally stuffed with minced pork.

The surroundings are filthy, with water puddles and piles of old furniture and cardboard on the ground.

"What's in the recipe?" the reporter asks. "Six to four," the man says.

"You mean 60 percent cardboard? What is the other 40 percent?" asks the reporter. "Fatty meat," the man replies.

Mmmmm, that's good eating. I guess the point to take away from this is that the Chinese don't save their toxic crap for us. I wonder how long it is before the government beheads the cardboard bun man and declares all food in the capital healthy and wholesome.
